Townsville Enterprise contracted us to build an online portal that allows visiting tourists to get in touch with local operators. The website attracts over 10,000 visitors each month and serves as the official guide for things to see and do in Townsville, North Queensland. The site won an award for best large scale website at the Queensland Multimedia awards and has been integral in connecting Townsville to the international tourism market.

Solution

The site incorporates operators from the accommodation sector, tours, events, restaurants, transportation and places of interest who are linked to the Australian Tourism Data Warehouse (ATDW) network. Our focus was to create an engaging online portal that fronted the information submitted by hundreds of tourism operators. The website is built using Xargo CMS and is equipped with various search functions, Google Maps integrations, a platform for local deals to be advertised and integration with the official Queensland Tourism blog. It also features a trip planner tool that allows visitors to add their favourite vendors to their personal itinerary, plus save and share on social media.
